  Responsible for finance, treasury, investor relations, business development, legal affairs, IT, HR, and corporate secretary functions. Bell Sports was the the market leader in bicycle helmets and accessories selling through national retailers as well as independent bike dealers. International subsidiaries were based in Europe, Canada and Australia. Products were manufactured in the USA and Asia. Through a series of add-on acquisitions and the growth of the bicycle helmet market, the company grew sales from $40 million to $300 million. A very successful IPO was completed in 1992. Show less

  Managed full P & L and staff for this $190 million group. At the request of the CEO and Board, I temporarily filled a vacancy in the US Group President position. I reorganized the group, consolidated facilities and divested the non-performing Mongoose bicycle division. Numerous brands and an abundance of sku's were rationalized which led to improved pricing and gross margins. The end results was a doubling of the group's operating margins after a one year period. After commuting to San Jose for 15 months, I helped recruit a successor and returned to my family in Scottsdale, AZ. Show less

  Prepared the financial foundation (processes, disciplines, talent) and board governance process for an eventual IPO. Upgraded the financial organization and eliminated a history of poor accounting and financial reporting practices. Implemented a company-wide planning and budgeting system to include a bottoms-up process and more specific allocation of costs. Completed the financial justification for a new NASCAR campus location.

  Executive responsible for all day to day sales, marketing, and operations with full P & L accountability. The company designed, marketed and sourced after-market automotive accessories sold through national retailers, including Wal-mart, Target, Pep Boys, and AutoZone. Participated in a private equity buyout of closely held company and then implemented professional management techniques and tools. With a newly installed management team, products were converted to the "Bell" brand and outsourced to China. Ebitda margins were increased 700 basis points. Show less
