  Chiasma Wellington is the capitol branch of a national student-led non-profit organisation that fosters connections between university students and the science and technology industries in New Zealand. As the capitol branch of Chiasma we cultivate strong relationships with Science Ministries and the many Crown Research Institutes in the greater Wellington region. We nurture science innovation, entrepreneurship and inter-disciplinary networking by hosting networking events throughout the year. We hold regular “Career Catalyst” workshops for additional skills. We want our student members to become confident, industry-savvy scientists with a wealth of industry and inter-disciplinary contacts. Show less

  I managed investment functions for MBIE's contestable research funds - balancing effort on making and managing these investments. My role included considerable stakeholder management across the science system. In this role I excelled in providing analysis for the assessment process, and in communicating with international experts. I demonstrated quality data analysis skills in Microsoft Excel, and in the management of the team’s SharePoint database. I was proficient in summarising the core qualities of both scientific proposals and assessors.

  An 18 month secondment to the Office of the Minister of Research, Science & Innovation where I was responsible for managing all aspects of the portfolio on the Minister’s behalf.

  My primary role is managing and monitoring the Strategic Science Investment Fund as well as monitoring several of the National Science Challenges. Through this role I engage with science leaders and attend the various governance meetings for investments under my portfolio. I assess and providing strategic feedback to contract holders on the direction and scope of their research; and communicating government RS&I investment priorities to ensure impact creation is tangible.Through this role I engage with a range of stakeholders including Crown Research Institutes, Government Agencies, Independent Research Organisations, industry representatives, iwi representatives, NGO's and companies.
