The evaluation of the existing fuel, coal, boiler burner and ash handling systems was done. This was used to compile design data and requirements that were used for the expansion project. These responsibilities went further to the compilation of the general contract requirements and the technical requirements, where the Employer's and Employer's Representative requirements were stipulated. The technical requirements were compiled after preliminary engineering was done.   ESKOM, Medupi Power station, South Africa, Commissioning Manager & Process Engineer. The Medupi power station project entails the construction of a new power station consisting of 6 Units for which the Low Pressure Services Consortium (LPSC) is responsible for the construction and commissioning of the balance of plant systems. My roles and responsibilities as commissioning manager includes the management of the LPSC commissioning team, the commissioning schedule, commissioning budget and ensuring that all systems are delivered and handed over as per the FIDIC contract and user requirement specifications. I am also responsible for the safety clearance of constructed plant, performance testing of plant and the clearing of punchlists and defects as well as assisting contractors with integration issues that relates to the LPSC systems. As process engineer the commissioning procedures were compiled for every system. System readiness checks were performed and the systems were commissioned. Where required control, design and construction changes were made in order to optimize systems for operation and maintenance. Operating assistance as well as system training was also done as part of the commissioning activities.Operational and start-up assistance to major petroleum refineries after outages, ensuring that their operating units are able to produce specified product and product volumes.
