I am also a volunteer with the Brodhead Fire Department, where I perform as a firefighter, assist with training, and maintain electronics. Emergency calls vary, including motor vehicle accidents, increased carbon monoxide levels, hazardous material leaks and spills, and structure fires. Compared to an EMT, firefighters usually are working in more dangerous environments, requiring teamwork and observation. Verbal communication with other on scene personnel is required to coordinate plans to resolve the problem. As with ambulance calls, every incident has a report detailing the executed actions and results. I have assisted with continuing and new member training, to ensure fire department members are able to execute tasks to the best of their ability. I also maintain the computers and website for the fire department. Show less

I am an EMT-Basic and Co-Captain with Brodhead Area EMS and work as a volunteer. EMT’s must utilize fast, critical thinking to assess a patient to determine the severity of an illness or injury. If advanced life support is required, additional agencies are requested and a verbal patient report is given over the radio. A run report, providing a detailed description of everything done on the call, must be completed and submitted to both the hospital and state. Reports are reviewed by hospital personnel and reviewed with the ambulance crew ensuring procedures performed and report writing skills meet high standards. Continuous training is required to maintain certification as an EMT-Basic and optional training is often available. As Co-Captain, I complete various projects and assist the Captain in the operations of the department. Show less

      It assistant

At Valmet, I assisted the information technology department. I was hired as a summer intern to assist with upgrading computers from Windows XP to Windows 7. This required the user’s data to be backed up to a server, the computer to be wiped clean, Windows 7 installed, and all programs installed with configured user settings. There were set time limits this process had to be completed in as to ensure the user’s everyday business was interrupted as little as possible. I was also called upon to solve various day-to-day computer problems experienced by employees, which were sometimes at remote locations in the United States. I became the main in-facility end-user support employee when the person I was working under went on vacation. When the business purchased an IP camera and video board, I configured the devices for use and created instructional steps on how to use the products for other employees. Show less

      Firefighter/paramedic

I respond to emergency calls, usually while on shift, as a firefighter/paramedic. I assist full time employees with daily activities, such as truck checks and cleaning the station. If there is a hazardous condition, I perform as a firefighter on a fire truck. If the call is an illness or injury, I man a paramedic SUV and meet the ambulance on scene. I perform a rapid patient assessment and determine if a paramedic is needed for the call. If so, I transport to the hospital, and if not, I release care to lower certification level medical providers. Show less

I preform a variety of duties as a member of a field service team, both behind a desk and at customer locations. I utilize AutoCAD or Catia to support the projects of other field service technicians, including creating mechanical design assemblies prior to the service and direct support when they are on site. I am the lead of one product and one service for North America, playing a major roll in the direction both take. As part of these duties, I coordinate personnel for tasks, quote services to customers, and obtain quotes and issue orders to suppliers. With a broad skillset and knowledge range, and a desire for increased efficiency, I strive to deliver a high quality product to every customer every time assistance is needed. Show less
