Units within the Division of Research identify grant and funding opportunities, manage proposals and awards, protect intellectual property rights, and more.At FAU, I investigated the role of oxidative stress damage in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and designed new preventative therapies which resulted in manuscript publication, presentations in international conferences and patent application. During this time, I was actively involved in training and supervision of undergraduate interns. I was also a Teaching Assistant for Biodiversity and Biological Principals courses.I designed and conducted an in vivo preclinical proof of concept study for AMD therapy, performed a gene therapy study for AMD using adeno-associated virus (AAV), and developed novel anticancer therapies for retinoblastoma by targeting the metabolism of cancer cells.● Contributed to 2 patents related to new therapies of AMD and retinoblastoma● Developed novel anticancer therapies against retinoblastoma● Secured ~$150,000 of funding through research grant applications Show less The Office of Technology Transfer at Florida Atlantic University is responsible for the transfer of university innovation and technologies to the marketplace for public benefit. Working with FAU faculty, staff and students, the office manages the intellectual property, including inventions and works, resulting in university research that has commercial potential.I worked with my own research as well as the technology, involved in the end-to-end process during my Internship in the Office of Technology Transfer.
