      Master’s Thesis, Are We Providing the Preferred Floral Resources for Bees in our Neighborhoods? Advisor: Dr. Marion Dresner; Portland State University 1825 SW Broadway Portland, OR • Developed a community science-based thesis project which included educating community members of Lents, Oregon.• Organized and conducted meetings with Green Lents board members, to increase involvement of tenants in the “Beecount PDX” program at ROSE CDC’s housing units. • Recruited and trained candidates for a community volunteer program, including organizing three-hour training sessions and scheduling volunteers for monitoring. • Prepared and conducted two, three-hour training sessions for community members which included general information on bees, and information about the “Beecount PDX” project. • Drafted a variety of written materials including: articles, correspondence and event flyers to recruit members of the public to become actively involved in Beecount PDX. Also managed social media accounts to post updates and photos of bees and plants for followers. • Developed exceptional time management and organizational skills while simultaneously, managing community volunteers, actively gathering data as well as conducting vegetation surveys. • Developed skills in identifying species and other morphological groupings of Portland’s urban bees.
