FamiliBase has been at the core of my career in youth work, where I developed significant expertise in the field. In my current capacity as Youth & Community Manager, I oversee the delivery of Youth Work, Arts and Media, Addiction and Recovery as well as Community Development programmes to vulnerable young people, their families and the wider community, supporting marginalised service users and the team as a key resource. In addition to hands-on functions, my position as a manager means I drive programme development, planning and execution, as well as training and developing youth, arts and community workers and ensuring the service vision is being delivered. This includes strategic oversight, managing team performance, daily operations, finance management, risk and compliance and being a central contact for stakeholders. I also ensure the service is meeting all its obligations in terms of policy and best practice, staying up-to-date with the most current evidenced-based guidance.Core skill areas: leadership, communication, planning, analysis, decision making, quality management. In my capacity as project leader, I overseen the delivery of structured programmes to vulnerable young people and their families, supporting marginalised service users and the team as a key resource. Show less This was a highly communicative youth worker position, requiring mature interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and empower young people. During this time, I worked directly with young people experiencing a range of issues, including substance misuse, where my role was to deliver group and individual supports, ensuring a holistic approach which met the needs of each service user. I performed risk assessments, led service meetings and planned and delivered the facilitation of groups. Central to effective services was also working in partnership with other service providers, where I thrived in a collaborative and cross-functional environment.Core skill areas: youth work, relationship building, empathy, emotional intelligence, flexibility. Show less As a trainee and subsequently as a sessional youth worker, I found my career passion and satisfaction in providing personalised support to youths facing social, educational, mental health and familial challenges. Drawing on high emotional intelligence, resilience and the ability to create meaningful connections with young people, I ensured The Youth Base Centre’s services were effectively delivered, fit for purpose and responsive to often complex needs. Working with young people in crisis required vigilance, risk awareness, the ability to work in a productive manner with colleagues and other services, and a huge commitment to the ongoing development of the service. In addition to routine delivery of services, I was also involved in national campaigns and events, including with UNICEF and Children’s Rights Alliance.Core skill areas: youth work, team collaboration, community services, resourcefulness, caseload management.
