  From July 1987 until retirement in May 2013, I worked for the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department. Starting as an officer in 1987, I worked as a Patrol Officer, Tactical Officer, and Internal Affairs Detective. I was promoted to Sergeant in 1994 and worked as a Patrol Sergeants, Traffic Enforcement Sergeant, and Accident Investigation Sergeant. I was promoted to Captain in 1998 and worked as the evening Commander for the Academy, evening Commander for Central Patrol Division, night Commander for North Patrol Division, Commander of the Employee Benefits Unit and Commander of the Intelligence Unit. I was promoted to Major in 2006 and worked as the Division Commander for the Planning and Research Division, Special Operations Division, Metro Patrol Division, Administration Bureau, Tactical Operations Division, and the Special Tactics and Response Division.   Coordinated overall pre-game, game, and post-game security measures for the Kansas City Royals Baseball Team. Duties included perimeter and interior security, cash escorts, player security. Worked inconjunction with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as with Major League Baseball for the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game held at Kauffman Stadium.

  As Director of Security for Childrens Mercy Hospital, my staff of approximatley 115 security and transportation personnel are responsible for the security of all patients, visitors, guests and employees at both Childrens Mercy Hospitals and 5 clinic/urgent care locations in the greater Kansas City area. Duties include preventive patrols, calls for service, risk assessments/recommendations, personal safety/security training, active shooter training, continual review of current security procedures and recommended enhancements to camera systems, card readers, etc.I am a member of the American Society for Instrustial Security (ASIS) as well as a member of the International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Show less
