As the Director of Nursing Operations & Patient Care Services at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, I was promoted to oversee a facility with 147 hospital beds. I provide direct management and strategic leadership to my team of 25 dedicated staff members. Collaborating closely with other entity Directors, the Vice President of Operations, physicians, nurses, and other vital personnel, we work together to set collective strategic goals for our service line. I report directly to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, offering my experience and insights to continuously improve efficiency and the quality of patient care.• Successfully oversaw the operational opening of Inpatient Hospice at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, initiating two beds in September 2021. This strategic expansion enhanced the spectrum of patient care options.• Led a rapid improvement event as Process Owner on 3 Medical, meticulously reducing discharge turn-around times from 204 minutes to 141 minutes. This innovative approach streamlined patient flow and increased overall efficiency.• Authored and enforced the BOLO (Be On The Look Out) policy, a vital measure increasing awareness of potentially violent patients within the hospital. This proactive initiative has proven essential in contributing to overall patient and staff safety.• Conceived the Nursing Partners Model, a pioneering approach projected to save the hospital $230K per 36-bed unit annually. By integrating EMTs or PCTs, this strategic move alleviates nurse workload, enhancing staff wellbeing.• Oversaw the opening of the first COVID unit at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. This decisive action was vital in demonstrating responsiveness to urgent pandemic needs, reinforcing the organization's commitment to community health and safety. Show less Based on my performance, I was promoted to oversee all aspects of management and ensure the delivery of optimum patient care within two specialized nursing units at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, which together have a combined total of 49 beds. I directly supervise over 150 nursing staff members. One of my core responsibilities is to guide and manage a $9.9M budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently. I report directly to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer.• Established the “Team Nursing” initiative within a large unit divided into 3 wings to enhance support. This approach led to employee engagement surpassing the 90th percentile, and patient satisfaction rising above the 50th percentile.• Introduced the “Trifecta” initiative to streamline the recruitment of new nurse graduates, leading to the hiring of 25 individuals and a 100% retention rate. This approach included personalized meetings between recruits and hospital staff.• In collaboration with one nurse educator and one charge nurse, co-authored an article to be presented at the American Nurses Association conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2023, demonstrating a commitment to nursing recruitment.• Boosted talent retention by increasing nurse Preceptors, ensuring support through one-on-one and group meetings, and deploying targeted training to set all Preceptors up for success. Show less Due to my performance, I was given a merit-based advancement to lead the management and delivery of exceptional patient care across two distinct nursing units at Emory Johns Creek Hospital, which together have a total of 36 beds. I'm responsible for overseeing 140 nursing professionals and support staff. My role involves managing a $3.8M budget and ensuring the judicious allocation of resources for their most effective use. I report directly to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer, aligning strategies and upholding excellence in our healthcare operations.• Created a Discharge Acuity tool that improved early patient discharges before 11 am, increasing the rate from 11% to 23%. This innovative tool was adopted by Case Management to proactively identify patient needs.• Established multiple committees to support nurses with their portfolios. These initiatives not only enhanced performance reviews and teamwork but also contributed to increased employee engagement and talent retention.• Upheld the competence of department staff, ensuring understanding and compliance with policies and regulations pertaining to nursing services, enhancing care quality and adherence to organizational standards.• Championed the development, implementation, and coordination of continuous quality and performance improvement initiatives, resulting in a measurable elevation of clinical practices and administrative efficiency.
