      Ministry of Defence (UK)In an 11 year period at the Ministry of Defence I undertook my graduate training and then progressed through a number of Technical Project Manager Roles of increasing value, complexity and strategic importance. These include (most recent first)Senior Project Manager within the Special Projects Delivery Team; Responsibilities included engineering solutions in support of UK Special Forces. The role required timely delivery of extremely niche and precise equipment and solutions against challenging timescales to a very demanding customer base. The tempo of progression required within this position thoroughly tested my interpersonal behaviours and delivery focus. The role required flexibility and the ability to take control and make effective decisions in a very timely manner.Senior Project Manager for Development of the Future Tomahawk Missile Weapon Control System: Responsibilities included leading a multinational (UK and US) Team of more than 20 people from Industry and both UK and a foreign Government in the Development of the Future Weapon Control System for both Current and Future UK Submarine Combat System Design. Engaging with Industry to exploit system boundaries, focus research and identify synergies. Equipment Project Manager within the Tomahawk Missile Weapons Department: I was responsible for in-service support to the Tomahawk Weapon Control System in use on UK Submarines. I was also the UK Tomahawk Submarine Fitting Manager responsible for the upgrade and transformation of approximately seven UK Submarines for use as Tomahawk Launch Platforms. Show less

These include (most recent first):Engineering Manager for the Drawing Office and the Configuration Management Department; This department is critical for ensuring that product development, product production and flow through the facilities is optimised and timely; the role has line Management responsibility for 40 staff.Chief of Commodity Research & Technology for the Reactor Core: I was responsible for defining and delivering the Research & Technology Strategy for Reactor Core Design and Core Manufacture. This role involved capability development, software development, methods delivery and implementation. This involved driving a matrix management style team of 30+ engineers and scientists to deliver benefits on multiple projects whilst gaining approval and resource for the work and reporting back at all levels of the organisation.Technical Project Manager for Numerous Nuclear Safety Cases: I generated and managed Work Packages through their entire lifecycle to address any short comings identified in the Nuclear Safety Cases that were within my remit. This included proactive management of both the Safety Case and other ongoing work packages to deliver safety improvements or to address emergent Legislation and evolving Customer Requirements. The department I manage is responsible for managing design open points (issues) and design changes between the Designer and the Design Implementation Teams. It is responsible for helping to maintain consistency between Design, Manufacturing and Physical Implementation of the build and ensuring that necessary changes are comprehended, managed and followed through in a controlled manner.
