  Worked as the only full­time physical therapist at a 100 bed rural hospital composed of a transitional care unit, acute care/medical surgical unit, intensive care unit, and outpatient surgical services department. Here I was responsible for evaluating and treating patients with various diagnoses and was instrumental in the formation of multi­disciplinary team meetings. Being a new grad and the only PT within the hospital was quite daunting at first however it instilled within me the characteristics of effective communication, time management, organization, as well as the importance of being an advocate for patients and the profession.   I work full time primarily in the evaluation and treatment of neurosurgical patients at St Anns, however I see an array of diagnoses on a daily basis. After leaving Mount Carmel West Hospital where I was the designated neuro PT for 11 years I transferred to St Anns to assist in getting the neurosurgical program running smoothly as this was a relatively new addition to services provided at this site. I have been working closely with the nurse practitioners on site to facilitate process improvement and improved patient outcomes. Show less
