  Administrative assistant

  I worked in Colas Ireland as a summer intern in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. My main role was an administrative assistant in the transport department. My duties included maintaining a filing system for the fleet, keeping track of all certificates and checks due on the commercial vehicles, and regularly updating costing, purchases, and maintenance files. The summers I have spent as an intern in this organisation have been thoroughly enjoyable. They have provided me with an insight into how a global company functions on a day-to-day basis. My experience working for Colas Ireland has been extremely helpful in increasing my knowledge of various business disciplines including general admin, accountancy, and business strategy. Show less

  Virtual intern

  I took part in a four week virtual internship programme in July 2020. Deloitte Ireland provided thirteen webinars/interactive calls to provide an insight into the day-to-day operations in the organisation, to enhance our employability skills and to increase our knowledge on corporate responsibility and inclusion in the workplace. The business chemistry session particularly stood out to me as I learned all about the different personalities in an organisation and how best to work together in order to ensure a functional, open and enjoyable environment. Overall, by taking part in this programme I acquired new skills and knowledge which I can take with me into my future career. Show less

  During my time in Colas Ireland, my role involved providing administrative assistance to the accounting/finance department. This included updating spreadsheets, carrying out reconciliations, and assisting with payments. Alongside this, I also carried out compliance procedures, rebranded company documents, and updated fleet/maintenance records.
