Throughout my time at Wigan Youth Zone, I have worked with young people aged 7-11 on a daily basis. I have worked in a variety of departments from arts and crafts (planning and leading sessions – including buying resources), to monitoring the skate park (checking it is safe before use and monitoring the children as they use it, to ensure safe practice) the girls room (face painting, crafts and doing hair and nail polish) and running games and activities outside.I lead on baking sessions and I ran and maintained the 2014 Cooking Club for its opening 4 months. To do this, I planned and organized all the sessions as well as working on a budget and looking at creating healthy and interesting recipes for young people, whilst ensuring that I work along food safety regulations, taking care not to include any allergens (such as nuts) in my recipes.
