      Jan 2017 - Apr 2018
      Codemakers instructor

      • Developed engaging and adaptable curriculum and activities for coding camps, including web design components, Python, and Arduino C programming, for kids aged 8-14 with varying initial skill levels and diverse interests while remaining compliant with the BC school curriculum• Taught different coding, science, and engineering concepts and applications, such as the engineering design process, CAD modelling, and 3D printing, personally inspiring creativity and passion in over 300 kids across British Columbia Show less

      Apr 2018 - Dec 2018
      System (signal) engineering co-op

      • Programmed fail-safe signalling interlockings for various track layouts using ladder logic, presenting my results using a Raspberry Pi prototype to senior executives and contacting sponsors to kick-start internal product development• Organized requirements and interface documents for all systems in public-private partnership projects, including the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit, verifying and validating sources of traceability• Strengthened project proposals by ensuring all requested information was included and restructuring sections to clearly emphasize how we intend to approach what the client finds important• Engaged with clients bi-weekly throughout project duration to ensure high stakeholder satisfaction and fulfillment of contract details• Researched various topics to increase awareness of and ease of access to train signalling information, such as modern signalling solutions, human error prevention, and fail-safe operation Show less

      • Work with local organizations, such as the Tetra Society of North America (Vancouver) and the Neil Squire Society, to research, design, prototype, and manufacture innovative solutions to meet specific needs of individual community members, considering user-specific limitations, sample use cases, comfort, and generalizability• Engineered a PS4 controller clamp for an individual with restricted mobility in his right fingers that would allow his left hand to trigger buttons R1 and R2 on the back of the controller, using Solidworks to model assembly mechanisms, 3D printing prototypes to test strength and compatibility, and off-the-shelf parts to ensure ease of repair or replacement and replicability for other potential users. • Designed a remote-controlled blanket for a quadriplegic patient who did not want to wake his caretaker in the middle of the night just to readjust his covers, considering shortcomings of his current incomplete system and incorporating extension poles, RC controlled motor, and safety mechanisms to maximize user comfort and satisfaction while minimizing overall cost.• Prototyped an arm exoskeleton capable of extension, retraction, supination, and pronation, considering motion actuation, constraining degrees of freedom, different arm shapes and sizes, and user comfort Show less

      Biomedical and manufacturing engineering co-op

      • Researched and developed the electronic quality control (eQC) cartridges used to calibrate and verify the readers at the customer's worksite, investigating how to extend the lifetime of the cartridge to the 5-year lifetime of the reader and predicting the maximum lifetime of eQC cartridges despite photobleaching effects on fluorescent mircroparticles and variation in fluorescence levels due to microparticle lot, nitrocellulose membrane lot, cartridge assembly lot, and reader lot differences.• Determined optimal peak analysis parameters for eQC cartridge scan data, the procedure to determine new optimal peak analysis parameters should manufacturing methods or parts be changed, and the procedure to determine the optimal photobleaching factor for each lot of eQC cartridges to extend the cartridge lifetime to 5 years. • Conducted Quality Control processes for eQC strip and eQC cartridge assembly.• Conducted failure modes and effects analyses (FMEA) of elements of the manufacturing process for Lepzi’s immunoassay cartridges in collaboration with the engineering team, project leads, and other personnel including equipment and procedures related to fiber pad or sample pad cutting, drying of treated sample pads, ultrasonic welding of immunoassay cartridges, and packaging and shipping methods between Lepzi's manufacturing partners.• Design and conduct experiments and studies meant to supplement FMEA analyses and Lepzi’s understanding of the underlying mechanics and risks of the previously mentionedmanufacturing processes and products.• Executed installation and operational qualification studies for machinery used in previously mentioned manufacturing processes.• Designed, prototyped, and generated drawings for equipment meant to improve Lepzi’s manufacturing processes.• Designed and executed feasibility studies to determine the best options for scale-up orautomation of any of the previously mentioned manufacturing processes.
