Working as a PhD candidate in the lab of Patrick Eichenberger studying spore surface characteristics of Bacillus subtilis and other natural spore forming bacteria. My focus is on the composition of the spore crust proteins/polysaccharides and how they contribute to the hydrophobicity or adhesion of the spore surface. I am exploring sporulation properties through genetic manipulation, phenotypic adhesion assays, microscopy, RNA sequencing, and proteomics. I currently manage and maintain this lab and mentor any undergraduates or masters students that join our lab space. I am collaborating with researchers at the DLR (German Aerospace Center) and at Hosei University in Japan. Show less
