  Based in JP Morgan’s European technology centre in Glasgow, I worked directly with the Finance Tech Team.My project, developed using a variety of bash scripts and Perl scripts through vi, was released production wide as of August 10th 2012 which provided insightful data and an additional layer of stability to their internal system.Integrated successfully with the members of the Glasgow team and stayed in constant contact throughout my internship with other team members from London, Mumbai, New York and Sydney to build a more robust product in tandem.   Secured an internship within Fujitsu’s Shin Yokohama TECH branch in Japan; provided me with a wonderful insight into the diversity of cultures and how the software engineering process differs. I found it to be invaluable life experience – despite the language barrier I was able to provide an excellent contribution to my team’s project. I developed a great working relationship with my colleagues during my time. I also found the scope of my own capabilities and that I can be self dependant. I took a sabbatical year from University for the position asI felt this was a once in a lifetime opportunity.During my time in Japan I helped develop embedded code for their WebServer, integrated new technology and support into their system and designed a widget based UI menu through jQueryUI that is easily configurable.Fujitsu provided a private tutor to help my understanding of Japanese. This proved to be culturally beneficial as I was able to build upon my Japanese proficiency and communicate successfully with my colleagues and others in everyday scenarios. Show less
