  I founded and organised the union from 2010 until 2013. I assisted the Returning Officer with organising two ballot box elections across nine schools and made sure that everyone had the tools to do their jobs. This involved maintaining a healthy relationship with schools, the local authority and trade unions, as well as overseeing finances, membership and communications.

  As well as chair the formal meetings of the youth council, I have to provide leadership and direction to the other young people taking part. Most of the time this translates into ascertaining what people really feel are the important issues to them, and then finding a way for the youth council to try and make a difference on that issue. It also means having to work with a variety of young people from different backgrounds, as well as meeting regularly with Directors and Cabinet members from the local unitary authority. Show less
