  In order to provide the students of the British School of Bahrain with the best possible experience in music, drama and dance in the most cost effective manner the Academy of Performing Arts was born. The APA (Academy of Performing Arts) provides lessons, classes and activities in all three disciplines to adults and students from across the Kingdom, not only to BSB students. The aim is to provide students the chance to explore and develop their talents through a wide range of learning activities. Whether you want to be a rock star, great actor, graceful dancer, develop your singing skills and/or learn a new instrument, the talented staff of the Academy of Performing Arts are ready to support and train you. Throughout the term we provide several opportunities for our students to perform in high level dramatic productions as well as concerts and performing festivals. We are a centre for ABRSM and Trinity Music Exams, LAMDA Drama Exams and IDTA Dance Exams. Whether you are a budding diva or need help finding your voice we will find the right program for you and build a pathway of encouragement and success.Led by experienced performing arts specialist Lydia Martin who has been teaching in Bahrain for over 12 years, we offer a range of opportunities, activities, workshops, courses and coaching sessions in music (voice, instrumental and theory), speech and drama, team building and performance skills to enthusiasts of all ages. We hope that we will have something of interest for you whatever your age and personal expectation.Musical options include courses in voice, musical theatre, piano, violin, viola, trumpet, drums, guitar, theory, composition with options to gain internationally recognised qualifications from ABRSM, LAMDA and Trinity examination boards.Dramatic opportunities include exciting speech and drama courses focusing on monologue, duologue, poetry and prose reading skills, improvisation and devised drama and mime. All of which can work towards the international LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) qualifications.We also offer our young people and adults opportunities with our theatre company MASK which provides exciting broadway style performance opportunities for all ages whilst giving the local community a chance to watch high quality musical and theatrical productions.Corporate training and community team building programmes also form a strong focus of our work and we encourage you to contact us for a tailor made programme to fit your event or training day. We also run "free of charge" community events to encourage unity in the community including a community choir, tribal drumming taster sessions, family events and the wonderful Inspire Festival which offers a lively program of talks, concerts and art workshops all free to the community.
