  As a result of my employment as a teacher at the university, college and K-12 levels, I taught everything from eighth grade mathematics through Advanced Placement Calculus BC, as well as college courses in both mathematics and mathematics education. I gained a newfound respect for anyone who devotes their career to helping children (and adults!) prepare for the future. Leading and instructing students was a very challenging feat on its own, but even more so when teaching mathematics. I am very grateful for the privilege of playing an integral role in building a strong educational basis and educating students for the future through consistency, fairness, perseverance, patience and practice. It is in this role where I developed such strong relationship building and communication skills, and also where I came to understand that each person brings value to the equation. As a teacher, it was my duty to identify the learning level of each student, to develop coursework that would help each student, and to work diligently to ensure each student’s success. I am proud that I was able to successfully instruct diverse students in increasing knowledge/understanding of mathematics as well as teach students who were studying to become mathematics teachers themselves. By implementing diverse instructional activities, and recognizing that each student was unique and valued, I contributed to a climate where students were actively connected and confident. Show less

  As the Senior Product Manager, I excelled in my ability to envision and manage the production of professional development materials (print, virtual, and video), coaching tools, and analysis methods, assessment system, and program implementation of Common Core-aligned K-11 system of mathematics courses that supported rigorous, inquiry-based teaching and learning using a technological platform. This was a challenging and rewarding role, as I partnered with Pearson’s leadership team including sales, marketing, promotions and others in order to identify and assess organizational needs, establish a clear vision for projects, build a plan of action, drive execution and measure success. Being responsible for training millions of people at every level necessitated that I become an expert in assessing training needs and creating instructional design processes that most effectively provided the highest degree of training in a cost-effective manner. The most rewarding aspect was to be at the forefront of learning and development initiatives and knowing that my work performance played a key role in designing and implementing learning materials that helped millions of students, on a global basis, learn the critical educational fundamentals. In addition to the learning programs, I also created integrated training materials such as observational and coaching tools, with an eye toward not only producing fact-based materials, but also, materials that would engage the reader and help develop a lifetime love of learning.
