      In the ten years that Hugh worked for IBM he held a number of roles, including; network pre-sales, network implementation, network design, and physical security systems design. Hugh progressed from the UK graduate program to work in the network team. Hugh’s first assignment was in the network pre-sales arena as a technical adviser to IBM telesales clients in small businesses, providing advice and guidance on Cisco products and producing bills of materials and validated hardware and software configurations for small projects.Hugh moved into the network implementation space to work for a variety of clients in multiple sectors, with projects encompassing small $10K deals to larger outsourcing projects of $100M+.       In his role as a Network Engineer/Principal Network Engineer Hugh was responsible for network design and implementation for customers in UK government and in the UK nuclear industry. Hugh’s role would involve consulting with business stakeholders for each project to correctly scope the solution, and to create design documentation and gain stakeholder approval. Hugh was also responsible for leading the implementation, testing, and reporting to project managers and the account managers. Hugh would also manage project handover from implementation into BAU support teams to ensure end-to-end delivery.       In his role as Principal Network Engineer/Technical Designer, Hugh was responsible for network data centre designs, primarily for a client in the UK nuclear industry. Hugh was the main design contact for the client in BT for managed service projects as part of an outsourcing deal costing over $10M. Hugh’s role involved consulting with multiple stakeholders for each project to determine business and technical goals, and to create design proposals and detailed design documentation and gain stakeholder approval. Hugh was also responsible for leading the implementations, testing, and reporting to project stakeholders, as well as transitioning projects from implementation into BAU support.
