      Composites Lab Research Assistant

      • Independently fabricated a composite laminate by pressing carbon sheets into the desired lamination code to form the lamina, then cured the lamina in an autoclave to make the laminate.• Independently cut a composite laminate into four square plates, then bonded three of them together using a two-part epoxy adhesive.• Independently cut the bonded plates into 23 5-mm-wide specimens by utilizing a cutter grinder for analysis of bonding practices.• Fabricated twenty specimens out of metal, glass, and carbon fiber to test new Instron 50 kN grips.• Independently tested three specimens on an Instron to approach 50 kN on the new grips.
