I have been employed by Cleveland Clinic for 20 years, starting off as a registered nurse and working up to my current position. As nursing operations manager, I float to all areas of the hospital, organize where patients are placed and communicate with families. What do you value most about being a manager? I strive to be a supportive leader, so remaining hands-on with patients and fellow caregivers helps me to be successful — but I still play harmless practical jokes on my team. Tell us something your co-workers might not know about you. I recently earned my BSN and look toward teaching nurses in the future. If you never became a nurse, what could you see yourself doing? I would be researching cancer, because it demonstrates great value. My father had cancer and participated in many clinical trials, and some of the medications used in his treatments were eventually approved. How do you spend your free time? I go to the YMCA with family or watch my daughter’s dance team, known as the Cleveland Junior Tamburitzans. I danced with the same group when I was growing up. The Tamburitzans are focused around the Croatian culture and it’s wonderful to see my daughter embrace these same traditions. Show less
