  Processing all manner of patient specimens for clinical Microbial diagnostics. This includes proper receipt of specimens, coding for correct testing, logging in and manual processing of samples with microbiological techniques, checking of doctors referrals, maintaining stock levels, and correct QC of equipment. It was never a dull day in the lab!

  Collecting and returning patients from the ward, set up of equipment needed for surgery, clean up of theatre post surgery, ordering stock. Good team work and communication (especially with masks on) was a must!Sad to say the Operating theatres were closed down and Essendon Private became a dedicated mental health facility.

  Background administrative support to multiple Units in the Education department including Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs), Training, Accreditation, and Assessments (the majority of the work is with Assessments and includes Fellowship OSCE/Primary Vivia exams at the AMC testing centre). During the week I also provided lunch time relief to the receptionist and assist with catering as required. A year in and I'd say I'm quite proficient with the entire Microsoft Office suite now and business writing (which after a science background feels like a new language)! Show less

As part of the administration; reports are run to determine if the following are up to date; police checks, visas, working with children's checks, AHPRA registrations, competencies, and facility inductions. Secondary duties included catering to the SHPA board members flights and accommodation needs, supporting all other departments as needed, collating reports for the Pharmacy residents (feedback reports, stats, etc.), and reporting for a few other steering groups and committees.
