  Founded in 1926, SAVA was the public company of the EFIM group, in which Alusuisse participated, for the production of primary aluminum. With an annual production of 27,000 tons, it was one of the world's largest aluminum producers. Its huge facilities included four hydroelectric power plants based on two dams and a thermal power plant. The whole production was controlled by a UNIVAC 1172 mainframe made operational in the mid-1970s.My passion for nascent computer science drove me to the IT Department of this Company, where in 1984 I took on the technical responsibility of the Data Centre based on a mainframe UNIVAC 1172 and a geographical terminal network based on DCP 40 processor.
