For over twelve years, I supported faculty, creating learning opportunities in a wild array of media. http://instructional-design-suny-ulster.blogspot.com/I worked with the Hudson Valley Consortium of SUNY schools creating professional development opportunities for faculty from 5 SUNY community colleges. http://teachinginthehudsonvalley.blogspot.com/ I worked to strengthen the k-22 continuum with local school districts. I won and managed 11 school-wide grants for faculty projects involving professional development, equipment and stipends for faculty. I also also garnered a SUNY-wide Innovative Instructional Technology Grant, managing the creation of a virtual medical center for Ulster nursing students to practice critical thinking skills. Collaborations for Ulster students have included partners from Belarus, Brazil, Canada, England, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, and Taiwan. I have also consulted educators internationally. At NAFSA , I was part of a SUNY workshop; “Internationalizing Your Curriculum”. The COIL collaboration with SUNY Ulster and Fatec Americana in Sao Paolo, Brazil received the coveted Guia do Estudante-Santander Award, beating close to 2,000 competitors. Thrilled to start the 3rd wave of the SUNY COIL Center focusing on GLOBAL LEARNING FOR ALL! We see COIL Virtual Exchange as a pivotal place for students. A place where doors open to worlds unimagined. A place where the circumference of one’s life expands from one’s town to one’s county to the state and country of one’s teammates, potentially located in a completely different part of the world. This is the point where students connect, see parts of themselves reflected in others, where others become teammates and no longer "other". These experiences shape all of us. These are experiences where we no longer are ticking the boxes of obligation but seeing the possibilities to thrive and grow beyond our wildest dreams. Show less
