  Over two years, I formulated multiple incentive schemes to reduce peak-hour crowding in Singapore's subways without significant revenue loss. I also analysed data from island-wide randomised controlled trial on commuter response to a novel surcharge policy, which informed the Public Transport Council’s 2018 initiatives aimed at decongesting trains and stations between 9 and 11 AM.

  At ISEAS, I led a number of national- and regional-level public policy research projects on macroeconomic themes. Among the most prominent ones were those that focussed on the impact of the Trans-Pacific Partnership on ASEAN, the diminishing fiscal contribution of Malaysia’s oil and gas sector, the extent of the use of algorithmic pricing models among Singaporean SMEs, and the financial viability of the region’s rubber glove industry. The key findings of each of these projects and others have been published as book chapters, journal articles, technical reports, and op-eds.Concomitantly, I was also the Associate Editor of the Journal of Southeast Asian Economies (JSEAE), a peer-reviewed journal published thrice a year focussing on economic challenges facing ASEAN member states and East Timor. Between 2017 and 2024, I edited and oversaw the production of 22 issues of JSEAE, which carried over 200 academic articles, research notes, and book reviews.
