      Civil Structures Design Engineer, Site Engineer

      Significant roles:- Auckland Harbour Bridge Spill Containment and Stormwater (Contract Manager, on Secondment to Total Bridge Services): This project involved the installation of a glass reinforced polymer drainage system over the length of the 1.5km long bridge, and the construction of three buried reinforced concrete treatment tanks. My responsibilities included management of direct labour and suppliers, preparation and negotiation of payment claims and variations, and reporting to the client. - SH18 Upper Harbour Bridge Structural Upgrade (Engineer's Representative): Works included the installation of a post tension system, bridge joint replacement, and guardrail repairs. I was responsible for construction supervision, quality assurance and payment claim review.- Northern Busway - Construction Phase (Site Engineer): After a training period, I was made responsible for construction surveillance, quality assurance, and payment claim review of the ten structures within the Esmonde Interchange sector (total value of approx. $12 million). These structures included bridges (new and existing), retaining walls, a culvert and a polystyrene lightweight fill area.- SH20 Mangere Motorway Bridge Joint Replacement (Contract Manager): My responsibilities included: investigation and research, design (including seismic modelling), tender document preparation and evaluation, site supervision, and contract administration.- Northern Busway - Design Phase (Civil Design Engineer): I developed a preliminary design and detailed design for a 50m long vehicle bridge, three retaining walls of up to 6m retained height, and a box culvert (all reinforced concrete). I co-ordinated the contract document preparation, peer review, and building consent applications for the structures within the Opus sector of the project. Show less

As Senior Structures Engineer I was the project manager and primary point of contact for the structural design of maintenance and improvement schemes on the contract.

      Installation of steel cable supports along the length of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and its approach viaducts (1.7km total), plus localised bridge strengthening as part of Transpower's NAaN project.As Project Manager, I was responsible for:• Early contractor involvement in the design process. During this phase our design improvements saved approx. $1 million, reduced safety risks, and help accelerate the programme.• Cost estimation and contract negotiations.• Ensuring that the works were completed safely, to specification, on time, and under budget. These goals were all achieved.In recognition of our excellent safety culture and achievements, we were nominated as a finalist in Transpower’s STAR awards, ‘Top Project category’ Show less

I consolidated information from various parties, prepared the final options reports, and presented these to the client.
