  This was a venture that I had considered doing for many years. I was approached by short-term insurance brokers to develop a database application that they could use to capture their client data. Their need was driven by the pending introduction of the FICA act that stipulated that they maintain a computerised copy of all their client personal details and all insurance related issues they managed on behalf of their clients.Using my experience gained at Metropolitan Life in the insurance industry I developed a client / server-based software solution as per the broker's requirements. Key elements of the solution included the following:The solution had to address all requirements stipulated in the FICA act.   This is a very diverse and interesting position in that it does not adhere to the stereotype Sales Manager position. It includes the common tasks a Sales Manager is required to do as listed in the Responsibilities section. And then you have the extra components that make this position so interesting. The culture of the company is very flexible and everything but silo-based. This allows me to be part of the marketing team, be involved with our the web design and get involved in the technical department and contribute to our software development effort. In this role, flexibility is essential.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the planning and creation of web copy for the company website, www.onsoft.co.za.
