  I spent two months in PDO, working the first month in the Telecoms building working in different departments, learning from observation, participation and hands-on experience from departments such as:1. Network Operation Center (NOC): learning about the monitoring and managing all of PDO networks, such as Wimax and Tetra.2. Transmission team: Learned about the powering of the telecommunication devices and the backup power, and the devices used to communicate and the purposes they are used for, such as multiplexers or the Ground to Air system.3. Workshop Team: like programming radios for usage in the various sites based on the requests The second month I worked in the Computer building, learning from observation, participation and hands-on experience from the three departments below:1. Voice team: Worked with the latest in telecommunications equipment’s that are used for Office Domain networks, like, Avaya, Cisco devices and Collaborative Working Environment (CWE)2. Data team: Learned how to configure various Cisco routers and switches, and how they work as well as the different types that are available. I also learned about the management of the servers and databases.3. Security team: Learned about the different methods used to protect and monitor networks, such as firewalls, and the prevention of certain external traffic accessing PDO networks.By working in PDO summer internship I improved my communication skills by working with people from diverse backgrounds and nationalities, as well as improve my report writing skills, and presentation skills.
