As a child abuse prevention advocate for more than 20 years, she has helped deliver and build capacity to implement birth and foster parent education programs across SC. In 2014 she was awarded the Frances Marion University/SCANPO Nonprofit Leader of the Year distinction for her service as Executive Director at Helping Hands, a poverty intervention nonprofit in Georgetown. In 2015, Sharon was recruited to serve as the primary point of contact for Together SC's nonprofit member agencies for technical assistance regarding all aspects of nonprofit management.Sharon graduated summa cum laude from Charleston Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Religious Studies and is also a graduate of the Frances Marion University Nonprofit Leadership Institute. As a Certified CoreClarity Strengthsfinder Facilitator and a Life Purpose Institute Certified Coach, Sharon uses her coaching/facilitation skills to create shared learning environments where purposeful solutions are identified and used for good.
