      Youth Leader

During his time volunteering with the Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS), Eric played a key role in Tororo, Busia, Arua and other branches in Uganda, where he made a significant impact on young people through disseminating the Red Cross principles and facilitating various life skills projects. He demonstrated leadership by training URCS volunteers, Task Force members, and members of the National and Branch Youth Councils in the use of Forum Theatre and negotiation skills to enhance advocacy activities, empowering these groups to effectively engage communities and address social issues.Eric also supported project volunteers in the collection of stories and stakeholder mapping to amplify the voices of vulnerable youth in northern Uganda. Jan 2016 - Oct 2021
      Local Project Cordinator

Libre Foundation is an international organization based in the Netherlands, Europe, which specializes in training leadership and communication skills to community leaders, with ongoing projects in different countries. The trainings are conducted by experienced leadership trainers using a very interactive and relevant curriculum that helps community leaders to deal with practical challenges in their organization or community. It is an advanced approach that builds on very empowering, reflective and ‘confrontational’ methods for leadership development. See next page for examples. Libre Foundation offers the training without tuition fees to small community organizations who are not accessing other leadership courses. Their trainers work on a voluntary basis; Libre Foundation works with local contact persons in developing countries who bring together a group of interested, qualified participants from community organizations. The training is organized very low profile: no allowances, no fancy venues. A training consists of 5 consecutive days, most of the time from Monday to Friday. The number of participants usually are 10-15 and the training hours are as follows 8.30am to 4.30pm .The course is participatory with a lot of interaction, examples and exercises. The training focuses on interpersonal verbal communication skills (such as: active listening, giving feedback, speaking in public) and basic leadership skills (such as: time management, motivating your staff, conflict management, coaching, problem solving, team work, inspiring people). Participants learn to use an open and fair communication style in order to increase their leadership qualities. The training content is customized to each participants’ needs and existing leadership style. Active discussion, role play and other group-based exercises are an essential part of our training.
