  I work closely with Whitman College's Admissions Officers in order to advertise, recruit, and admit students to Whitman College. My specific responsibilities include planning Admitted Students Day, blogging, newsletters, application reading, and interviewing. Worked to identify traits and characteristics for the ideal group of Student Academic Advisors (SAs). Interviewed, read applications and letters of recommendations, and met with other members of the committee to select the 16 most qualified SAs out of our competitive applicant pool. Worked in a 170 person residence hall helping six other resident advisors effectively guide college freshman through social, academic, and emotional problems facing people when they leave home. I worked as a liaison between the residents, other resident advisors and the Resident Director. Extensive training in active listening, human relationships, assertiveness, advertising, and time management. Worked closely with twenty freshman to guide, support, and teach them necessary skills to thrive in college. Trained extensively in study skills, time management, and approachability.

  Research Intern (REU)

  For the summer of 2013 I worked as a research intern at the University of Idaho researching solid state physics. In particular, I studied the effects of hydrogen doping on the Zinc Oxide nanowires and looked for a threshold energy for which the hydrogen atoms begin to anneal to the ZnO. Throughout the summer, I improved my ability to build and design an experiment, take data and analyze it, as well as track and document my work as I go along.
