  Crude oil and natural gas exploration, including subsurface geological mapping, reflection seismic interpretation, location of exploration well targets, and recommendations on purchasing subsurface mineral rights. My recommendations led to the company purchasing extensive lands for exploration and drilling, and subsequently drilling several highly successful oil and natural gas wells.

  Advised company on acquisition of natural gas supply, use of hedging instruments, and management of natural gas in storage. Developed an extensive analysis of natural gas purchase contracts at a time when industry was slowly transitioning from long term, fixed price contracts, to shorter term (annual and one month) deals. Consumers Gas is now Enbridge Gas Distribution, and is the largest natural gas distribution company in Canada.

  Provide information and advice to the Minister of Natural Resources Canada on all pipeline issues, and on Natural Gas and LNG Markets, Trade, Pipelines, and Regulation. Brief Cabinet, Senate and House of Commons committees. Run Pipeline Arbitration Secretariat, assisting Minister to resolve pipeline/landowner disputes over compensation. This involved maintaining a roster of lawyers and other qualified arbitration experts, hiring panels of such experts for specific landowner/pipeline disputes, funding all costs, and ensuring the resolution of such disputes.
