  The African National Congress (ANC) is the ruling political party in South Africa. The ANCWL is the Women's Section of the ANC that focuses on issues that affect women and is critical for the promotion of gender equality and women’s rights in South Africa. It is the largest women’s organisation in the country with approximately 50 000 members. Responsible for developing and managing the reputation management strategy of the organisation to ensure the organisation remained relevant as the primary voice on gender related issues in the country. Manage all internal and external communications functions. Attend media engagements and speak publically on behalf of the organisation on radio and television platforms. Organise events and advocacy campaigns, as well as participate in the development of gender policy documents. Liaise with and manage provincial spokespersons as to ensure the WL speaks with one unified voice on issues. Network and create meaningful relations with outside stakeholders such as international and local women’s NGO’s, relevant Government departments and business to ensure that women’s issues remained on the agenda. Participate in the ANC’s political communications strategy development and implementation, and worked on the ANC election campaign for the successful 2014 National Government elections.   The National Department of Basic Education is responsible for all policy development in the education system. The Department of Basic Education is one of the largest Government Departments in South Africa with the largest budget allocation. Education was identified as the apex priority of the South African Government from 2009 to Present and therefore effective communication of Government decisions and policies; and to ensure public accountability is vital. Manage the public reputation and image of the Department of Basic Education and the Minister in particular.  Effectively communicate policies and programmes of the Department with the public and various stakeholders through the media and other communications platforms. Monitor Parliament’s Basic Education Portfolio Committee meetings as well as support the Minister in Parliamentary activities. Represent and/or provide guidance and support for the Minister in radio and television interviews. Respond to media queries on behalf of the Minister and Department. Compile and distribute media statements  Content development for various platforms including opinion pieces. Deal with any problematic media coverage.
