As a Process Safety engineer at BAPETCO head office, my primary responsibilities revolve around ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations. These duties involve strategic planning, risk assessment, and the monitoring of process safety KPIs. Specifically, my role includes:o Creating the 5Y AI-PSM plan and regularly updating top management on its progress; the plan encompasses actions addressing the 20 elements of the CCPS RBPS management system.o Leading or participating as a scribe in multiple HAZID and HAZOP studies conducted by internal resources for BAPETCO fields.o Drafting scope of work (SOW) and engaging in the PHA studies, such as LOPA, QRA & FERA, performed by external resources, then tracking all recommendations along with their respective action owners.o Ensuring that all risks associated with assets operations are identified in the risk register, assessed effectively and maintained at ALARP.o Revising and updating process safety procedures including permit to work, mechanical isolation, alarm management, management of change, emergency response plan …etc.o Monitoring the AI-PSM measures and performance indicators, and recommending remedial actions.o Conducting PSM audits and actively engaging in incident investigations.o Presenting the AI-PSM KPIs, highlighting the top threats and the critical actions plans in the monthly performance review meeting led by the chairman. Show less In these 2 years, I have been instrumental in advancing environmental sustainability and energy optimization within BAPETCO. My responsibilities include:o Calculate and report the monthly Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions resulted from all emission sources in BAPETCO.o Find solutions & opportunities to deliver net zero goals by reducing emissions from venting, combustion, flaring and fugitive emissions.o Monitor the environmental & energy-optimization projects progress, and presenting it to top management, EGPC and the petroleum ministry during company board meetings and the Annual General Assembly.o Achievement: Managed with the team to reduce GHG emissions by 34%, and the routine flaring by 68% in the last 2 years through the completion of approximately 20 projects or process optimization initiatives.o Awarded in November 2023 by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources in Egypt Oil andGas Convention (EOGC) as per my contributions in BAPETCO's project: (Routine Flare Reduction) which got the first place in "Highest Impact De-carbonization Project". Show less Plant Description: The plant is located in the Western Desert and is established for gas & oil treatment; it contains 3 gas trains each of capacity 120 MMscfd, and one oil train with capacity of 30 Kbpd. Each gas train consists of compression driven by gas turbines, 3-phase separation, gas sweetening by MDEA for CO2 removal, gas dehydration by TEG, condensate recovery by turbo-expander and J-T valve, and compression to the export pipeline.Job Responsibilities:o Supervision of operation and maintenance activities according to Shell HSE regulations, BAPETCO procedures, and manual of permitted operations (MOPO).o Complying to Permit to Work (PTW), Task Risk Assessment (TRA), and Management of Change (MOC) systems.o Acting as on-scene commander for emergency response situations inside the plant.o Managing plant operations via: - Monitoring operating conditions to ensure working in the optimum operating envelopes. - Participating in Root Cause Analysis (RCA). - Confirming that all overrides are recorded and mitigations are in place. - Carrying out the LO-LC valves review and updating its register. - Ensuring the mechanical isolations are applied, as per BAPETCO isolation procedure. - Using SAP for CMs and PMs planning and prioritization.o Participating in HAZOP, SIL, 3D Model Review and FAT for the plant new projects, such as mercury removal unit (MRU) and sitra produced water re-injection (PWRI) projects.o Coaching control room and area operators for increasing their competency level by regular training on their daily duties including process troubleshooting, plant/equipment shutdown & startup activities. Show less Plant Description: Assil and Karam are two gas development sites in Alam El Shawish West (AeSW) Block in theWestern Desert of Egypt; it was established for gas sweetening based on Shell technology using ADIP-X solvent for CO2 removal by absorption. Two Reverse Osmosis (RO) units are established onsite; one used to supply potable water for the field area, while the other unit used to supply demineralized water for amine solvent used in gas sweetening.Related Tasks:o Broadening technical understanding of gas processing, HSE, plant startup & shutdown, troubleshooting, instrumentation & control, DCS, water treatment.o Participation in various studies and activities to ensure that operability, maintainability and integrity issues are properly addressed and optimized.o Creating various macro-enabled excel sheets, used for operational data recording, trending and analyzing to ensure the plant operations within its operating envelope.
