  Shop Assistant

  I was hired into a seasonal position in an traditional family run store with a strong presence in the local community and relied heavily on its core customer base. While here I made strong bonds with regular customers maintaining friendly relations and learnt quickly how to cater for their requirements. The store specialised in pets and gardens but also incorporated floristry as well which I would prepare and wrap together to the customers specifications. I also worked with bespoke packages of pet treats and plants. It was my role to open up the shop and create a positive visual display of the plants in stock in the area in front of the shop, there was no set way to do this as stock changed every day and it was up to me to use my initiative. Throughout the day I would maintain displays and replace sold items keeping pace with demand. My main job was till work, we had old fashioned tills and calculators were banned due to an unprofessional image, therefore till work required strong mental arithmatic as all items brought by a customer were added up mentally.   Upon leaving Gordon Frank's training center I joined Waste Away. Waste Away is a skip hire and recycling center. The aim of the company was to discard as little as possible while maintaining a fast paced environment for processing. While here I'd process valuable materials such as lead, copper or electrics with minimal oversight by managers.In this role I was able to work as part of a team safely and effectively moving where needed in a large industrial environment. It was a necessity to follow strict health and safety procedures.A key role of mine was to be in the unloading bays working along side hook loader trucks unloading and JCBs sifting through large piles of debris. I'd be tasked with doing an initial pick along side these machines taking out larger materials for processing such as PVC frames or wood that the machinery could not seperate. High levels of communication was paramount in maintaining a safe working environment. Another role I had regularly was to move into an overwhelmed position on the trommel conveyor belts taking up position and working along side overwhelmed colleagues to keep processing on track.   I have been at Coopers Needle Works LTD as a precision engineer for 14 years and worked throughout the pandemic producing a range of bespoke industrial, medical and lab equipment with our main specialities displayed on the website.I can cover a wide range of other trusted positions such as postmaster, diagnose and repair under machine maintenance, procurement, research, cyber security amongst others.On a day to day basis I handle various CoSHH chemicals such as solvents, acids and oils, some of these CoSSH chemicals are mixed to create a necessary product for production such as mixing glues or cutting agents. I am skilled at using innovative production methods that encompass jig creation, cutting Bennett's, drills, lathes, clamps, dies, abrasive wheels, vibratory tumblers, ultrasonic cleaners, burners, glues, solders, irons and chemicals such as fluxes, acids and solvents to achieve accurate, high quality, consistent products. Most product creation involves multiple procedures, advanced skill and must adhere to a number of complex specifications, often requiring creative solutions.
