  Numerical and Design Optimization of the Energy Absorption Properties of Thin-walled Multicellular Aluminum/Coir fibre Composite Tube.This research involved the use of Abaqus CAE and MATLAB.Firstly, Abaqus's explicit dynamic tool was used to simulate 8 designed samples of cylindrical and hexagonal composite tubes. However, the results from the simulation is not sufficient to rank each tubular structure due to conflicting performance on the parameters of interest such as Crushing force efficiency, Maximum Crushing force, Specific energy absorption etc.Secondly, MATLAB's multi-objective optimization tool using Genetic algorithm technique. This is tool involved the formulation of fitness functions using Microsoft Excel regression function. These functions are imported into MATLAB with necessary boundaries to guide the optimization process.
