      Supplier Quality Engineer

      Supplier Quality Engineer in both the Bedhampton, Hampshire site and the Titchfield, Hampshire site. Both were part of the Aerospace division. I was heavily involved in the UK/Mexico product transfer and worked in Tijuana for 12 weeks and reported directly to the Operation Excellence Manager for the Aerospace division whilst out there. I was training the quality department in Tijuana to understand and to conform to our customer requirements as well as the Eaton quality requirements. I have also been involved in the product transfer of 2 UK plants parts to China as well as re-sourcing a large number of parts out there. Working with multiple suppliers and carrying out quality and process audits to ensure they are compliant to all our specifications. Whilst in China I trained our Supplier Development Engineer in China on Eaton’s Quality Systems Audit and the Business assessment audit. I have carried out numerous audits in China and helped improve the new suppliers Quality and Delivery figures.Main Responsibilities• Developing and improving current supplier base• SQE for China and Tijuana transfer projects• Implementing Eaton & Lean tools• Improving the Supplier DPPM scores • Reduction of defects using preventive and corrective actions• Reviewing and auditing new and current suppliers• Work with buyers and corporate commodity managers on supplier quality issuesMain achievements:• Reduced the Supplier DPPM score by 40% in first year• Reduced the Supplier base by 35% in the first year• Implemented 40 new products into best cost countries in first year (China and Tijuana)• Successfully carried out over 60 supplier audits in 5 countries (UK, USA, Japan, Mexico and China)• Received two recognitions for outstanding work carried out.• Successfully implemented new dock to stock inspection process. I have a strong connection with my supply base and have worked very closely with them on site to resolve quality and engineering issues and ensure continuity of supply. I have worked with specialised suppliers all over the world, countries including China, Japan, South Korea, USA, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Europe and during this role I travelled approx. 80% of the time.Main Responsibilities• Facilitate and lead continuous improvements within the supply chain• Find and develop new suppliers and materials for future projects• Ensure timely and efficient ramp up of new products• Lead process, system and product audits• Manage SCAR process and performance of key suppliers KPI’s• Reduce supply base to a manageable level• Implement Quality at source• Implement lean manufacturing with in the supply base• Train supply base to Vertu’s requirements including their very high cosmetic standards.• Set up process improvement teams in Vertu and within our supply base• Review Cost Break downs (CBD’s) against supplier process and implement cost improvements with the suppliers manufacturing process.Main achievements• Sourced, Developed and implemented new hinge supplier for main program 6 months prior to launch• Project managed problem suppliers on site in Germany for 17 weeks• Team member of numerous onsite supplier design camp teams• Implemented and approved identical manufacturing cell in Asia as in own site• Transferred numerous products from Europe to Best cost countries in Asia• Worked with Sourcing team to improve yield figures by double on non-conforming suppliers• Reduced supply base by 30% Show less
