I was fortunate to be able to work alongside smart individuals and learn from some of the best professors in the country. During this time, I really improved my communication skills by working with classmates on group projects and giving presentations in class. My capstone class project consisted of creating a full advertising campaign for Blue Apron. The DMTA minor introduced me to things like Google Analytics and Adwords, Microsoft Excel, social media, UX/UI, digital advertising and marketing, and more. Highlights of my time in the minor included running an Adwords search and display campaign for a local business, getting certified in Google Analytics, and prototyping a redesign of the CATA Bus mobile app. Show less

    • The Daily Collegian

      Apr 2016 - May 2018

After being on staff for a full year, I applied for a specialist position, where I would face an increased role at the Collegian. While my main job responsibilities stayed the same, I now assisted the department’s managers, helped out and answered questions for trainees and newly appointed staff members, and spent an extra four hours per week in the office. That year, the Collegian underwent a big shift from print to digital, so my main focus was on recreating old print ads and optimizing them for the web. I faced the challenge of designing for the different sizes of web ads, keeping in mind the limitations for both desktop and mobile placements. Overall, my two years at the Collegian really confirmed my love of design and gave me valuable work experience. More importantly, I met some of the most awesome, creative, and ambitious people who made it so much fun to go into the office every day. Show less In the winter of 2016, I joined the Daily Collegian Business Division’s creative department, where I trained for three months. My training consisted of polishing up my Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills, learning the processes of the different departments, and getting acclimated to working in a team setting. When I officially joined the staff as a creative representative, I spent 8 hours per week designing print and web advertisements for local clients that would be placed in the newspaper and on the Collegian’s website. Our department worked closely with the sales department—who represented the Collegians’s clients—in order to turn specs around and meet the specifications of the clients. I gained a lot of good experience from my first year at the Collegian; communicating between different departments, balancing Collegian work between classes and clubs, and learning some design basics. Content Strategy Intern

In the summer of 2017, I interned at Eastern Standard, a digital design agency in center city Philadelphia. I worked under the Senior UX strategist, who introduced me to the field of user experience and taught me so many valuable skills. My main role on the team was to develop the strategy for the websites of our clients. This consisted of performing content audits on the existing sites and conducting content workshops to determine new content to be included on the new site. From there, we would create a user-friendly site map and high level navigation strategy depending on several factors of the website. Finally, we were also responsible for creating the wire frames to be handed off to the design team. We also had the opportunity to take on a unique project for the Kimmel Center, as we compiled research and user insights into a usability report for their website. Not only did I develop a love for UX/UI design during this internship, but learned what it’s like to work at an agency for 40 hours a week. I also used Sketch, Google Analytics, Slickplan, and Fullstory just about on a daily basis, and became familiar with Slack and Basecamp. Eastern Standard played an important role in guiding my career path and developing myself as a designer and strategist. Show less
