The Small Business Improvement Fund (SBIF) is a City of Chicago economic development grant program. Drawing on funds from select Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts in Chicago, the SBIF provides reimbursement grants to eligible small business and/or property owners in those districts for capital improvements to their commercial or industrial properties. The SBIF encourages reinvestment in Chicago's building stock, enhances neighborhood business corridors, and helps small businesses create and retain jobs. SomerCor 504, Inc. works in conjunction with the City of Chicago's Department of Planning and Development to administer the program in over 90 of the city's TIF districts. Show less
