Dealt with laser cutting, swaging, milling, x-ray, welding, soldering, developed tooling and general assembly.

      Acted as the supervisor in a team environment to move three extrusion lines from a sister facility to our facility in Suffield, CT. Responsible for directing the manufacturing department on how to run the lines, speed up progress and get the lines running in a reliable rate of production. Dealt with difficult chemicals including Fluoro-Etch, IPA and Acetic Acid as well as varying types of plastic including FEP, VFEP, Conductive FEP, Nylon 12/6, Grilon and Santoprene. • Managed the manufacturing effort, including the creation, running, troubleshooting and set-up of a four layer extruded product using Harrel extrusion equipment• Prepared parts for PPAP submission and created a four-layer product with four extruders linked in tandem • Performed DOE studies to analyze and determine how products would operate and resist to a variety of different conditions Selected Achievements • Completed the four-layer extrusion product in just 6 months; first engineer to complete this product• Utilized lean techniques to upgrade the line in order to reduce setup and changeover time, reduce scrap and waste, reduce downtime through the setup of a PM schedule and create a 25% increase in throughput Show less

Programs have included Third Stage Rocket Motor, ATK Launch Vehicle, Attitude Control Motor, Kinetic Energy Interceptor and Pintle Valve Development • Successfully utilize Lean Manufacturing techniques to reduce production time, improve quality and increase throughput • Supervise and oversee the operations floor and program team to ensure best practices and procedures are understood; provide quality control and assurance to ensure work is completed to the highest standardSelected Achievements • Lead a team to reduce standard rework by 100% and increased the bonding strength by 1.5% on the insulated forward polar boss going from a 15% first pass yield to a 100% first pass yield• Lead an integration team for the avionics module and second stage of the ATK Launch Vehicle program to successfully assemble, stack and launch a two stage experimental rocket from Wallops Island, VA• Developed a new pintle valve for return of flight (shuttle replacement); streamlined the manufacturing process in collaboration with both the laboratory and operations • Developed and streamlined the manufacturing process for trapped ball movable nozzle assembly; collaborated with project engineering to create a robust repeatable process and reduced cycle time by 12 hours: 33% time savings • Developed improvements in collaboration with operations for the current line of Flex Seals for TSRM and STAR® 48BV and 37FM; removed a machining operation and reduced cycle time by 25% Show less
