      Studied the role of the proximal small intestine in Type 2 diabetes remission after bariatric surgery, primarily by using a high-throughput proteomic approach to uncover novel protein targets. This work was performed under the advisement of Dr. John P. Kirwan in the Pathobiology Department of the Lerner Research Institute.Gained extensive experience with rodent tissue harvesting and tissue processing, as well as assistance with rodent metabolic testing. Learned basic science skills including immunohistochemistry, qRT-PCR, ELISA, and Radiolabeled Immunoassay. Gained experience with high-throughput proteomic techniques such as 2D-PAGE, 2D-DIGE, and analysis of LC-MS/MS data. Gained further experience in clinical trial management, study coordination, patient recruitment, and proper compliance protocol. Worked with REDCAP and CTMS databases. Show less
