  Air conditioning and electrical systems maintenance Engineer (NYSC)

  Working in the works department at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital.Here I started my job role from the Air conditioning systems section. I worked with technicians to top air conditioning gas with refrigerant 22. I was taught how to diagonise faulty air conditioning systems and know when the compressor is bad or when the coolant is not circulating due to some mechanical errors that causes disruption in flow.I also performed Maintenance and repairs of air conditioning system for industrial cold rooms and simple unit air conditioning system for office use.In the electricity section, I worked with engineers and electricians we traced faults on distribution boards, fans and stabiliser protective circuit systems. While working in this section I ensure I applied the technical knowledge of the British safety practice and ensure that safety is first. In the same vein, I also learnt the practical ways of implementing standard cable sizes in Electrical works. We made use of one Cutix cable( cutix cable is known for producing the best cable in Africa. There production is done in anambra Nigeria). Using the cutix cable there was some adjustment which needed to be made since the quality of the cable was so much. With cutix cables lower size cables were able to serve to carry loads of high power demanding lines. ( I hope to research more on how this can be used in adjustment of the IEEE standard for cabling wiring ). Working in a federal government agency like Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching hospital means being alert all the time and being ready to ensure stable power supply to all sections in the Hospital and also ensuring that all electrical facilities are up to its functional capacity and is still able to do work (as in engineering terminology).   Vigilance strategist and monitoring officer at african largest electricity distribution company (serving over one million connected users in the grid) where I help to save and recover funds that would have been lost due to unbilled energy. My duty spans from Engineering ;supervisory and monitoring of works; detection of unbilled energy.So while at this role i performed customer relation complaint resolutions on different types of smart energy meters.I led a team of technicians to diagnose and resolve electricity meter issues such as:Meter dispensing free energy (noting this issue and escalating to the proper department)Faulty meter not on postpaid.A customer placed on free riding.A bypassed electricity meter which has an impact on energy accountability.A burnt meter which is faulty.Electricity meters on negative reading.This role allowed me to work with different types of meters such as: mojec, clou, conlog, unistar, paktim, Edmi etc.This also involved working at height close to 415V and 11kV electricity range.So the goal in this role was to detect technical faults, system bypass, economic impact on a distribution transformer returns. Impact on the annualised cost of energy and capital recovery on an electricity distribution system.Key skills: data analytics using excel, maintenance and instrument. Show less
