      •Supervise and train a 13-person AmeriCorps education team to ensure their understanding of required curriculum, state-education standards and classroom management•Developed and wrote a hands-on, elementary school science curriculum and a middle school science curriculum that are aligned with Florida’s state science standards •Organize the implementation and delivery of the elementary school curriculum in 21 schools; 2,300 students participate in the program monthly •Teach and lead implementation of the middle school curriculum at six middle schools; 950 students participate in the program monthly•Communicate with 110 classroom teachers to schedule curriculum training, classroom visits and field trips for the two curricula•Oversee professional development program for 20 educators •Have coordinated and led 100+ educational field trips for K-12 students •Collaborate with an Advisory Committee consisting of school officials, teachers and AmeriCorps directors to ensure curriculum and education programs are aligned with state standards and meet the needs of local school districts •Coordinate an environmental outreach program at five local libraries for children•Collaborate with Northwest Florida State College’s Teacher Education Program to offer summer service-learning experiences for future educators•Presented education programs at Florida Department of Education’s annual STEM meeting, Florida Marine Science Educator’s Association Conference and Restore America’s Estuaries Conference•Selected as AmeriCorps 20-for-20 as part of their 20th anniversary celebration•Secured $40,000 in grant funds for education programs Show less
