      VP of Community Relations, RETIRED

After 32 years as MAFCU's Chief Lending Officer, I was asked to take a position to educate and expose the residents of Montgomery County MD to the services of their Community Credit Union as VP of Community Relations for 5 additional years. I worked with various non-profits in Montgomery County to match their needs with services of the Credit Union.I looked for ways that employees of the credit union could give back to the community through volunteer service for causes that they were passionate about. We partnered with Interfaith Works, Manna Food Center, ACS Rockville Relay for Life, Community Services for Autistic Adults and Children (CSAAC), Stepping Stones Shelter, The Dwelling Place, Cornerstone Montgomery and many others.I volunteered and serve on various community boards including: Academy of Finance, Coalition for Advancement of Financial Education (CAFE Montgomery MD), Black Rock Center for the Arts and Gaithersburg, Germantown Chamber of Commerce (GGCC).I meet with, interviewed and evaluated numerous non-profit organizations to identify opportunities to collaborate with staff employees and invest MAFCU resources to sponsor support for future charitable events. I supported numerous opportunities to provide financial literacy training throughout Montgomery County to include MCPS, MCCC, Dept. of Health and Human Services Providers, Family Services, Inc. Interfaith Works and a host of others.Effective Feb 6, 2015. after 37-years, I again Retired from MAFCU. However, I remain as a Temporary Employee to pursue my passion of teaching Financial Literacy. I continue to support several non-profits to schedule classes for their students and clients (Interfaith Works, D.H.H.S, Sara Start Fund, CAFE Montgomery and NAF Academy of Finance). My hope is that Financial Literacy will be included as a core subject in all High Schools. We need to give our future leaders the knowledge to make informed financial decisions to be financially independent. Show less
