  Working on a 1500 acre park consisting of large woodland areas, parkland, meadows and formal gardens, my work as an environmental officer included planning and implementing projects to manage the diverse ecosystems on site while at the same time educating young people about the environment around them and how to protect it. Programs that I designed and facilitated included pond construction and maintenance, tree and shrub clearance, tree planting and footpath construction and the construction of a downhill mountain bike track while maintaining the surrounding walking trails and environt. Supported by the Estate Ranger I also completed bat surveys/monitoring, monitoring of wildlife within some of the small ponds onsite and a small mammals survey. Show less

  Katie is an environmental scientist with 17 years of experience in contaminated site investigation, remediation and risk assessment. Katie has worked for private and government clients at the municipal, provincial, territorial and federal levels. Her work experience has taken her all over BC, the Yukon and Alberta in both urban and rural (remote locations).Katie’s experience includes: • Completing Stage 1 and 2 Preliminary Site Investigations, Detailed Site Investigations, development of risk management strategies and Remedial Action Plans, remediation, and regulatory reporting.• Managing projects involving the identification, delineation, and remediation of contaminated soils, sediment, groundwater, surface water, soil vapour, ambient air and dust.• Implementing Environmental Management Systems and conducting annual audits.• Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessments • Project management including coordinating field programs with contractors and site representatives, liaising with clients, tracking budgets, complying with federal, provincial, and municipal regulatory requirements, data analysis and interpretation, and report preparation for client and regulatory submission.• Regulatory permitting and liaison and technical report writing.Health and Safety is at the forefront of the work Katie does.
