      Senior Research Scientist

I am currently a co-PI on a model integration project called MINT that is funded by DARPA's World Modelers program, as well as two projects called BALTO and ASSET that are funded by NSF's EarthCube program. Over the last several years, I've been a co-PI on several other NSF EarthCube projects, including a large project called Earth System Bridge that I led, focused on Earth System modeling, as well as projects called OntoSoft/GeoSoft, GeoTrust and Geosemantics. Much of this work involved the development and extension of the Scientific Variables Ontology (SVO) which was created to resolve a problem called semantic mediation that faces all model and data integration projects. EarthCube is an effort to develop advances in cyber-infrastructure that will enable greater and simpler interoperability between models, data sets, frameworks, web services and other resources that geoscientists typically need to connect in order to do their work.
