As a ACPII I work with various skills levels of Basic Life Support Paramedics, Graduate Paramedics, ACPI and classified officers. As an ACPII at Ayr station I respond to requests for assistance through the use of defensive driving tactics. I assess one or several patients through various status surveys and implement sometimes complex treatment plans requiring the use of various clinical procedures and the administration of various pharmacologies. Treatment plans may require the allocation of additional resources from additional paramedics, Queensland Fire and Rescue, Queensland Police Service and Retreival Services Queensland. Personnell management is a significant part of this role through the development and implementation of personal development plans, flexible working arrangements, leave and payroll processing. An OIC will order, audit, transfer and dispose of drugs under the QAS Drug Management Code of Practice. As the logistical, administrative and financial operations of the station underpin its functionality, an OIC will liaise with the District Fleet Manager to ensure all QAS vehicles are functional and possesses financial delegation authority for ordering PPE, patient care stores, station consumables and repairs on medical devices.
