      Wrote my thesis on dominant party systems in Southern Africa (1.0/5.0). Through a logistic and a linear regression, I found that, against common expectations, a consensual political culture rather than primary access to resources helps explain party dominance in Southern Africa. I used Afrobarometer data and data I collected myself during a two-month research stay in Cape Town. It suggests that the predominant realist view of the environment, among academics and political elites, effectively prevents them from imagining environmental challenges as a reason for cooperation rather than conflict.
