      Cloned an algal gene for further understanding of protein product using RNA extraction, RT-PCR, PCR, gel electrophoresis, primer design, and E. coli transformation and culturing.       Performed DNA extraction and purification from equine and bovine blood and hair to be used for client diagnosis. Used microscope to visualize and assist in diagnosing abnormalities of G-banded, C-banded, and FISH probed chromosomes. Diagnosed genetic abnormalities using qPCR and gel electrophoresis. Responsible for cataloging and maintaining samples. Cloned a viral gene in order to study the effects of infection in hamster cells. Responsible for growing, culturing, and storing multiple cell lines and transformed E. coli. Performed electroporation and plaque assays. Maintained detailed laboratory notebook to be referenced by colleagues.
